The unusual event took place on November 2 at an award ceremony in Jinan, eastern China's Shandong Province, reported Star Video. 
The firm, whose name has not been revealed, specialises in selling cosmetic products, according to the news outlet which is affiliated to Changsha Legal Channel.
In a social media video, the two company officials can be seen putting their palms together as they walk down the aisle and bow towards the stage, where the group of eight staff members are already sitting on chairs behind basins of water.
The employees are said to have achieved the best sales figures. 
The executives kneel on stage in front of the staff members and begin removing their shocks to cleanse their feet in the unusual ritual, which is reportedly meant to boost their morale.
In the social media video, the two company officials can be seen putting their palms together as they walk down the aisle and bow towards the stage (left).

Some web users have questioned the effectiveness of the practice, but others have also defended the company's choice of rewards.

Some people said the ceremony was a clever way for the boss to avoid giving her staff bonuses. 
One such web user commented: 'The boss is so cunning. Washing feet for employees means they cannot ask for financial rewards.'
