Wuling Yuan
Brief Introduction
Located in northwest Hunan Province and covering an area of 369 square kilometers, the Wulingyuan Scenic Area comprises the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in Zhangjiajie City, the Suoxiyu Nature Reserve in Cili County, tour trương gia giới the Tianzi Nature Reserve and the Yangjia-jie Scenic Area in Sangzhi County.
It is famous for its "five wonders", namely queer peaks, tranquil valleys, elegant rivers, deep forests and ancient karst caves. It is ranked as a national AAAAA tourist area.
Wulingyuan features some 3,000 towering sandstone pillars and peaks, 243 of which are more than 1,000 meters high and most are over 200 meters high.
Of these, the Imperial Pen Peak, in excess of 100 meters above sea level, has several parallel apexes of different heights. It is regarded as being the best representative of the peaks at Wulingyuan.
There are 32 streams, each with a length of at least 2,000 meters, in the Wulingyuan Scenic Area, and the Gold Whip Stream and kynghidongduong.vn the Suoxi River both run through it.
The Gold Whip Stream was formed naturally and gets its name because it passes by the Gold Whip Rock. It extends 5,700 meters through the steep cliffs and queerly-shaped peaks. With limpid water and luxuriant vegetation around, it has been recognized as one of the most beautiful waterways of Zhangjiajie.
Meanwhile, Wulingyuan boasts large numbers of karst caves.
The well-known Yellow Dragon Cave has a ground area of 100,000 square meters, tour trương gia giới is 7.5 kilometers long, and has a vertical height of 140 meters. It is rare among the world's karst caves in terms of the scale, number and shape of its stalactites.
Transport
The Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport, about five kilometers away from the downtown, has opened flight routes to over 20 cities.
However, with the exception of Shanghai, Beijing,Guangzhou, Chengdu and Changsha, these services are not available on a daily basis and are often subject to changes, so tourists should refer to the flight numbers as displayed on the computer of the local booking offices.
Through the Shimenxian-Changsha Railway and the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, Zhangjiajie is linked with over 10 large and medium-sized cities by train. In the scenic area itself, environmentally-friendly buses shuttle passengers between any two of the scenic spots.
Mini-buses travel frequently between the downtown of Zhangjiajie City and the Wulingyuan Scenic Area, a distance of some 30 kilometers. In addition, the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and the Suoxiyu Nature Reserve are connected by a highway, and the Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve and the Yangjiajie Scenic Area by the Liangyuan Road.
Catering
Within the scenic area as a whole, the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park has the most developed supplementary facilities.
In regard to catering, Zhangjiajie cuisine belongs to a branch of Hunan cuisine, but features a greater degree of traditional farmhouse cooking styles such as smoking and baking. The main characteristic of the cuisine is its distinctive peppery taste. The price of food in the scenic area is comparatively high, but here one can taste such special local dishes as the Sauteed Preserved Meat with Kudzu Root, the Rock Edible Fungus, and the Stir-Fried Eggs with Sour Corn.
Shopping
Wulingyuan has many special local products.
The kiwi fruit, the Qingyan Mingcui Tea, the Longxia Jasmine Tea and pine mushroom are all renowned; the Sangzhi Salt Dried Bean Curd was served as a tribute during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911): the Kudzu Root Powder is pure natural beverage; the Maoping Maojian Tea features a light fragrance and beautiful color; and the Lameizi series of foods with local flavor are also highly recommended.
